Second Workshop with Musical Director

This was the second workshop of seasons of love from rent. Within these videos I am singing the lower part of the harmony and I am wearing the pink jacket. While singing, we were made to walk around the space, we did this so we could focus on just ourselves and not worrying about our peers hearing us sing, building our confidence. Also, it helped our stamina and projection as we focussed on breath control as moving while singing will make us lose breath more than staying stationary. I think I did this well and found it very useful as I noticed I was projecting the lyrics more because I didn't have to worry about the others hearing me sing. However, to improve I need to work on my harmonies and timing so I can sound the same as everyone else, making this piece more smooth and professional.

Workshop of Cell Block Tango

This is the first rehearsal we ever did of Cell Block Tango where we started choreographing to the music. Within the video we are doing our first ever run through with the new choreography. As you can see the our timing is very off and some people were in the wrong positions on the chairs which threw off our formation. However, we worked well as a team to bring ideas for moves to the group and executed it well. We just need to work on characterisation and energy because we all look very bored because we were concentrating so much on the new dance. By the next rehearsal we will have choreographed the next section and made improvements.

Chicago Write Up

This is my Chicago write up about my small group dance to Cell Block Tango. I go into depth about the character and context behind the piece and how we are making it our own but still including the key original factors.

Singing solo assessment 3

This was my final video of my singing solo and significant improvements were made. I had a lot more energy, characterisation and projection within my voice. I sang the song without backing vocals and you can hear me clearly. also, my voice was deep and strong to match the intimidating character I was trying to portray. I danced full out while singing and my energy remained high. My movements did not look lazy, and I looked like I was enjoying myself. My characterisation also improved within my eye contact to the camera to look more intimidating, my jazz movements and my facial expressions which were snide and conceited. However, I dd miss some timing as the karaoke version was very different to the singing version I learnt, but I think I handled the p;roblem well.

solo singing assessment 2

https://youtu.be/wAtSTE8tchI This is my second attempt at singing my solo and there are definitely improvements. I used all the movements this time while singing, which made the piece look more put together. My voice was deeper and stronger in this video, which was my target so I can really embody the character, Velma Kelly. Although, I still need to add more projection as I am quite quiet. The real singer was over the top of my voice but the next time will just be karaoke and me so projection will be important to sing over the music. In the final video I want to have achieved more energy because my movements seem a bit lazy and sloppy. Also, I want to show more characterisation within my face and not just my voice.

Matilda write up

This is my Matilda write up where I talk about what we did in a rehearsal, my strengths, weaknesses, my targets and what I need to work on next time. Also, it includes screenshotted examples to evidence everything I am saying in the document.
